The Roane County Chamber Board of Directors (BOD) meets monthly, at least 10 times per year. The Roane Chamber BOD consists of three committees that work on initiatives identified and planned during the July Annual Retreat.  Those committees include Operations, Community Developmen, and Education & Workforce Development.

Roane Chamber Operations Committee

This committee oversees finance, membership and strategic and business planning.

    • Chair: Deric Runge, Edward Jones

Identified Goals/Projects for FY23:

  • By-law changes;
  • Help grow and utilize the Ambassador Team more throughout the year;
  • Help to increase the Chamber’s social media presence and outreach;
  • Visit members and be in the community to hear what they need and educate them on the benefits of their membership

Community Development Committee

This committee oversees community and leadership development, government relations and Tourism.

    • Chair: Sarah Harrison, Director at Roane County Anti Drug Coalition

Identified Goals/Projects for FY23:

  • 2022 TACL Conference planning and recruitment;
  • Leadership Engage program planning and recruitment for next class;
  • Attend County Commission and City Council meetings;
  • Help increase tourism through initiatives and programs that encourage shopping local and bringing in visitors in surrounding counties; and
  • Look at launching and planning a Farm to Table event in each municipality; and
  • Lead the development and implementation of the annual Legislative Agenda.*

Education & Workforce Development

This committee oversees education and workforce initiatives that include the High School & Middle School Career Day, professional development training, and more.

    • Chair: Danice Turpin, Director at Tennessee College of Applied Technology

Identified Goals/Projects for FY23: 

  • Work to bring back pre-COVID Tennessee Scholars Graduate numbers and engagement;
  • Work with RSCC and TCAT to establish relationships between tnAchieve mentors and the “completion coaches;”
  • Plan and hold the combined High School/Middle School Career Day in March 2023;
  • Students in the Workplace visits coordinated with Roane County Schools for fall; and
  • Educator in the Workplace visits coordinated with Roane County Schools, if possible.

*All Committees will provide input for the Legislative Agenda.
